Breeding, showing and training animals all my life.

I first entered the world of obedience training with a Labrador at around 3yrs old. I can remember taking one of my mother’s girls in under the expert supervision of the late great ‘Jack Goldstein’ (my mother trained with Jack for many years and had many Champion Labradors competing in obedience). When mum started breeding, my sister and I were right there amongst it all, helping where we could … delivering puppies, training, caring for the little ones, whatever was needed… we loved it and we both went on to breed and train animals when we got older.

My Grandmother and Aunt also bred and showed Pomeranians for many years,  contributing to my love of animals.

After several years I ventured into horses and when I was old enough, I started training horses and later went into breeding. I worked with harness and riding horses and spent many years breaking and training them for myself and others.  I have always tried to find the best way to get the best out of an animal without fear or punishment. This has led to my passion for understanding animal behaviour.

As a Belgian Shepherd breeder I am relatively new in the breed compared to other breeders/owners. I purchased my foundation bitch, Etta (Groenendael Ch. Mirribandi Juliette PT) in 2013 and will always be grateful to Kathryn & Roger Winton and Mirribandi Kennels for this quality start.

After successfully campaigning Etta I well and truly had the bug, and I acquired my 2nd Belgian Louis (Tervueren Ch. Mirribandi Leonardo), who went on to win many baby puppy in show and class in group awards. My 3rd Belgian was Twyler (Groenendael Lumineux Twilight of the Wolf, bred by Helene Cremona of Lumineux.

I was introduced to the Laekenois, the rarest of the 4 variety of Belgian (thanks to Lesley Longmuir of Radnor), and fell in love instantly. I am now one of only 3 currently active Laekenois breeders in Australia, with our 1st litter in 2016 and plans for another later in 2020.

Since starting my breeding programme, Beletta Kennels has produced some beautiful puppies, of all 4 variety of Belgian Shepherd. We would like to thank Mrs Lynda Trotter of Belgenbeau Kennels for allowing us to access some of her outstanding dogs and her knowledge of pedigrees.  As a result we have the amazing Groenendaels – “Lucy”, “Lola”, “Halo” &  “Bruce”, the Laekenois – “Arwen”, “Belladonna” & “Samwise” and the Tervueren – “Kenji”, “Sugar” & “Roxy Soxy”.. all of whom have been shown lightly with outstanding results.

And, let’s not forget our newest additions, “Irish” (Lynelle Young – Atanga Vow & Declare) and “Sushi” (Lynda Trotter – Belgenbeau De Bel Noretta – pending approval) – these 2 babies are outstanding and have very bright futures.

Over the past 7 years, I have been involved in Rescue of Belgian Shepherds. First assisting the BSDCQ with their rescue arm, but then after a couple of years, branching out and running a Breed specific rescue group for Belgian Shepherds, offering hints and tips to owners and assisting with some training needs.

We are very proud of our achievements, involvement and future commitment to this beautiful breed…
